Colossians 2:14-17 - “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”

The Ceremonial Law/Ordinances have been thought by many to include the Ten Commandments. Once the "handwriting of ordinances" were done away with so were the Ten Commandments. However, I'd like to point out that the Ten Commandments were given to Moses by God and were written by the Finger of God and that the The Ceremonial Law/Ordinances were Handwritten by Moses.

The Ceremonial Law/Ordinances were "against us" and "contrary to us" as they were a "shadow of things to come". Christ came, he did his work here on Earth and once this had been done their was no longer a need for the Ordinances as the "shadow" had it's fulfilment.

The Ten Commandments are widely known as the Moral Law. Everyone would agree the world would be a better place if their was no theft, lieing, adultery and killing. The Ten Commandments is a law of love, it being kept shows that you love God and your fellow neighbours.

Matthew 5:17-19 - "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

God wants us to love Him and your neighbour and for this he made the Ten Commandments, a law of love for everyone. It was made at or before Creation and is a law for the rest of eternity.
